Norskklassen
The Norwegian class on the Net
Message posting guidelines
for the Norskklassen mailing list
The Norskklassen mailing list has been operating since 1998, and has become a
gathering place for over 1400 learners of Norwegian. With such a large group
the list can easily become clogged with traffic, or degenerate into
flame wars between opinionated individuals. Therefore the list is moderated;
postings may be deleted if they are considered offensive or irrelevant.
Please follow these guidelines when posting to the list:
- Send personal replies off-list. This usually
requires copying and pasting
the sender's address into your mail program's "To:" field. Just clicking
"Reply" sends your reply to everyone.
- Change the subject line if you change the topic.
- Change the subject line if you reply to a digest !
- When replying, delete unneccessary text from
the original message. This especially applies to digest users. Most mail programs include everything in your reply by default.
- Avoid wandering off-topic. People are here to learn Norwegian.
- If you are having problems with the three
additional Norwegian vowels, please see
this page
and/or the FAQ
before posting questions on the list.
- Try to include some Norwegian in every posting. We all want to learn!
- Don't monopolize the list. This is a forum for discussion, not monologues.
- Finally, be considerate and generous when replying to other's postings. Flame wars are counter-productive in a classroom. Let's maintain an encouraging atmosphere in our virtual classroom.
List members who do not follow these guidelines may be
given a reminder. Members who repeatedly post offensive or inflammatory
messages may lose their posting rights.
